Youth Career

Jeremy Doku started his youth football at KVC Olympic Deurne in Antwerp at a younger age where he attended primary and boarding school and trained in between classes.

From 2007-2009 Jeremy Doku moved to another youth team called Tubantia Bergerhout. He played there for two seasons before moving to Beerschot in 2009-12.

Jeremy Doku in 2012 at the age of 10 moved to RSC Anderlecht where he continued his growth of becoming a professional footballer. He was with RSC Anderlecht from 2012-2018.

Belgium Career

Jeremy Doku has featured in every level of the Belgium Nation team. In 2017 Jeremy Doku represented the Belgium U15 with 5 appearances and scored twice at this level. In the 2017-2018 season, Jeremy Doku made 10 appearances for the Belgium U16 and scored three goals.

The 2018-2019 season saw Jeremy Doku making 16 appearances for the Belgium U17 and scoring six goals at the UEFA European Under-17 Championship.

Manchester City Career

The departure of prominent players in Manchester City’s squad saw the signing of Jeremy Doku from Rennes on the 24th of August 2023.

Jeremy Doku was given the number 11 shirt for the 2023-24 season and on the 2nd of September 2023 he made his first appearance for City against Fulham in a 5-1 victory at the Etihad Stadium.

Doku’s first goal in the English Premier League was against West Ham United in a 3-1 away win on the 16th of September 2023.

After opening his account with his first goal in the EPL against West Ham United his manager Pep Guardiola made a statement to praise the young player by saying; “He never expected that kind of performance from Doku in his second appearance for his new club.

He continued by calling him a “Proper winger” and further adding the way he played today; I don’t remember something like that since a long time ago”

Fast forward 4th October, Jeremy Doku scored his first UEFA Champion League goal for Manchester City in a group stage match against RB Leipzig in a stoppage-time counterattack pass from Julian Alverez sealing a 3-1 win over RB Leipzig.

Jeremy Doku was named player of the match in his next game against Brighton & Hove Albion in a 2-1 victory where he gave an assist for Alvarez’s goal. He was highly praised by former Man City player Paul Dickov for his outstanding performance.

On the 4th of November 2023, Jeremy Doku tied the Premier League record for most assists in a match and became the youngest player in the Premier League at 21 years and 161 days old to provide four assists and have five direct goal involvements in a single match against Bournemouth which ended 6-1.

Career Stats

Anderlecht

Doku’s dream of becoming a professional footballer started with Anderlecht in Belgium where he made his senior professional career debut in a 4-2 loss to Sint-Truiden in the Belgian First Division A on the 25th of November 2018.

Doku was only 16 years 5 months and 26 days old when he started his professional career, and this makes him the seventh youngest player to make his professional debut for Anderlecht.

Jeremy was with Anderlecht from 2018-2020 seasons. His first professional goal was against KV Oostenden on the 1st of December 2019.

Jeremy Doku made 34 appearances for Anderlecht in the three seasons that he was with them and scored five goals in all.

Rennes Career

Jeremy Doku’s outstanding performance caught the eyes of the France League A club Rennes to immediately come for him.

Doku signed for Rennes on the 5th of October 2020, a five-year contract worth €26m including bonuses, and his signing was the most expensive in the club’s history.

Just like every other player, Jeremy found it difficult to settle into his new environment. Doku’s first massive contribution to the team was in December of that year in a game against Marseille where he gave two assists and a similar against the team Lorient.

On the 20th of March 2021, Jeremy Doku scored his first League 1 goal against Metz and was later sent off for a bad tackle.

Jeremy Doku in his second season at Rennes suffered numerous injuries limiting him to only 14 appearances. He was only a starter in four of the matches and managed 469 minutes in total over that period.

In the 2022-23 season, Doku started the first part of it being a substitute but later became a starter after the departure of Ghanaian winger Kamaldeen Sulemana and was given the number 10 shirt. Doku made 75 appearances in all competitions for Rennes and scored Ten goals.

On 20th August 2023, Doku played his last game for Rennes as a substitute against RC Lens. Doku was sold for a fee worth £55m (€65m) to Manchester City.
