Calafiori Clubs Career

Roma

Calafiori started his professional football at Roma when he signed his first contract on the 16th of June 2018. Riccardo made his Seria A debut and Roma debut against Juventus on the 1st of August 2020 in a 3-1 win.

He scored his first professional goal against Young Boys in a UEFA Europa League home win. Calafiori made only 1 appearance for Roma U19 and 18 appearances in all competitions for Roma senior team scoring only Once from July 2019 to January 2022.

Genoa Loan

Riccardo was loaned to Genoa in the 2022 season on the 14th of January and featured only 3 times for the club.

Basel

After his loan spell at Genoa ended he was back at Roma and later sold to a Swiss professional football club Basel on a permanent deal on the 30th of August 2022. Riccardo Calafiori made 38 appearances in all competitions for Basel and scored only 1 goal.

Bologna

Thiago Motta needed the service of Riccardo Calafiori so, he brought him back to Serie A when he was signed on the 31 of August. He has already made 33 appearances in all competitions for the club and scored twice which was in a game against Juventus.

Calafiori was crucial in Bologna’s Champions League Qualification for the first time in the history of the club since 1964-65 making sure they finished as top-fives in the league.

International Career

Having played for the Italian U21 team, Calafiori was invited to the Italy national football team by Luciano Spalletti in his preliminary squad for the Euro 2024 and he made his debut on the 4th of June against Turkey.

After cementing his place in the final Euro 2024 squad, he made his competitive debut on the 15th of June against Albania.

Making him the second-youngest Italian to play in the UEFA European Championship at 22 years and 27 days the first was Paolo Maldini.

Individual Achievement

It was a well-deserved accord when he was awarded the Serial A Player of May 2024.
