Career Stats

Haller at Borussia Dortmund

On the 6th of July in the year 2022, Haller affixed his signature to a contractual agreement with Borussia Dortmund that extended until the 30th of June in the year 2026.

The transfer fee paid for this transaction amounted to €31 million. However, there were certain undisclosed bonuses attached that could potentially increase it up to as much as €34.5 million.

Regrettably, on the 18th of July, Haller withdrew from Dortmund’s pre-season training camp located in Switzerland after he was diagnosed with a malignant testicular tumor.

This condition necessitated two surgeries and four cycles of chemotherapy treatments to keep its spread under control.

After completing his cancer treatments, Haller was officially allowed to resume full-time training activities by January of the following year (2023).

Start at Dortmund

He joined Dortmund’s team at their winter camp situated in Marbella where he played his first match almost eight months prior on January 10th during a friendly game against Fortuna Düsseldorf while featuring only within its final minutes.

Three days later (on January 13), he scored an impressive hat-trick within just eight minutes during another friendly match versus Basel which ended with a scoreline favoring them by six goals against zero for their opponents.

Finally making his competitive debut for Dortmund after overcoming cancer through a grueling six-month battle on January 22nd when he came onto the field as a second-half substitute during their home win over Augsburg with an overall scoreline reading four goals against three for their opponents.

Haller demonstrated remarkable resilience and courage throughout these trying times.
