Tamale Sports Stadium
You can locate the Tamale Sports Stadium (Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium) in the Northern Region of Ghana with Tamale as its capital. The Tamale Sports Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium that serves as a venue for football matches and outdoor events.
In the year 2008, the Shanghai Construction Group of China completed the 21,000-seater capacity stadium for the good people of Tamale and Ghana at large and it’s owned by the NSC/RCC.
During the 2008 African Cup of Nations, some games were played in the stadium giving us the indication that the stadium is a well-standard stadium.
Change of name
After the death of Alhaji Aliu Mahama, the then-former vice president of the Republic of Ghana. The stadium was renamed the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium in honor of the late president in December 2017.

RTU as famously called is a Ghanaian Premier League Club founded in 1976 by the then first chairman Ahaji Adam. After the 2008 African Cup of Nations, they moved from their previous home pitch Kalanda Park to their current home Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium.
Steadfast FC
Steadfast Football Club is a professional Club based in Tamale and owned by a prominent politician Haruna Iddrisu. Steadfast uses the Aliu Mahama sports stadium as it is homegrown as they played in the Division One League. Abdul Fatawu Issahaku is a product from Steadfast FC and once played in the stadium before moving abroad.
Northern Ladies
Northern Ladies FC founded in 2005 is a Lady’s football club based in Tamale, the Northern Region of Ghana. They play in the Ghana Women’s Premier League and also use the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium as their home.
